Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day
In 2013, Michael Visconti deployed on a mission to ensure that members of Post 2 and the City of Edgewater would not forget the attack on Pearl Harbor that occurred on December 7, 1941. Through his leadership, vision, and support of Band Leader Dick Cuchetti and Honor Guard Captain Danny Kirkman, they collaborated with other local military groups, the City of Edgewater and National President of the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors, Deidre Kelley to create what is now known as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. This annual event is held at 1PM on the first Sunday of December. This event has become so sacred to our post and community that the City of Edgewater enacted a resolution that the first Sunday in December would serve as Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day forevermore. In honor of this longstanding work of Post 2 we were recently awarded a plaque by the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors in appreciation of the effort to honor the military personnel who perished and those who survived the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor.

Memorial Day
Every Memorial Day we gather at 11AM to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We give a specail recognition to the deceased Veterans of AMVETS Post 2 with a cross bearing their name on display for our community to be part of this solemn day. Freedom isn’t free—thank you to all who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Veterans Day
On the Saturday of preceding Veterans Day we gather for our annual ceremony which begins at 1100. This ceremony has historically featured several guest speakers from our community, such as Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood. We honor all who have or are serving our Nation with the laying of a wreath for each major combat and for each family of AMVETS Post 2.
